Makeup and hair: Nancy Lam/Motives Cosmetics
Concept and Styling: Me and Nancy
Model: Vasilena Georgieva

The minutes I saw Vasilena Georgieva walking the run way in an Oscar Fierro’s dress, I knew exactly how to shoot her, where to shoot her and how amazing she would look with Nancy’s fantastic skill. I often refer to Vasilena, as the Bulgarian Princess. I was not disappointed at my decision to work with this fantastic 5’10 model and I would recommend her to any designer looking for a model to work with. She did not just model for me, she brought me all the clothing I had asked her for. Vasilena is very passionate about modeling and it shows with each pose she executes.
It had been a while since my last creative collaboration with my better half. For the past 2 months, we have been milking the images of Vasilena on a Pickard chopper in our head and finally, all my inspiration has become reality. The challenge of being creative is the ability to turn thoughts into an image and and hopefully be content at how the images turn out, but the success of each shoot like these, really depends on the collaborators, from products, models, location, makeup, hair and most importantly styling.
I truly understand the importance of good styling, as it is one of a major layer in the final product. If you are a fashion stylist and reading this, please contact me for future collaboration. Although, I don’t mind doing my own styling, it is quite difficult when you have to wear too many hats on a shoot like this, and always let the pro do what they do best.
I love wedding photography most, for the capturing of emotion and I love fashion photography for its collaborative effort amongst the latents to create layers of unduplicatable effort. As my friend Randy Anderson has recently told me, “Don’t let them pigeon hold us. We are first and foremost a photographer.” Hey, I want the whole piece of pie, because I am willing to work hard for it.

This morning, as I am looking out the windows of my home office, it is 55F, wet, cold, windy with heavy dark clouds. It feels like a big bad winter is barking loudly at my doors. Just a few days ago, Dallas weather was Southern California perfect and what had seemed to last forever, I [...]

I normally spend around 45mins to 90mins on an engagement session. Michelle, Donnie and I spent practically most of the day together. After getting her hair and makeup done by my wife Nancy, we headed to Richardson City Hall, where there were a large patch of Texas wild flowers. It was mid day when we [...]

We love working with Olysea. I enjoy photographing her and my wife Nancy loves doing her hair and makeup. My wife says her skin is like a blank piece of canvas which is so easy to apply makeup and she can sit patiently for hours for hair and makeup as if she had done it [...]
